About Methods

Wingwave

I practice the Wingwave® Coaching method, which is an internationally recognized approach for the speed and depth with which it facilitates changes in perception and access to inner resources.

Over the years, I have built a toolbox full of complementary instruments, which I integrate according to each person's needs and pace. This combination allows me to address, with ease and clarity, a wide range of topics in everyone's life — from understanding emotions and the body's reactions, to relationship dynamics, inherited patterns, or the way thinking and biology influence each other. This "toolbox" accelerates the process of identifying the source of blockages and facilitates their rapid release, thus allowing a return to balance and confidence.

Everything takes place in a natural and personalized process, in which emotions, perceptions, and the body relearn to communicate coherently. The result is a real, visible, and stable change felt in the way you think, react, and live.

Wingwave, as a coaching method, was developed by Cora Besser-Siegmund and Harry Siegmund, psychologists and trainers at the Besser-Siegmund Institute in Hamburg, Germany, in the 1990s, as a coaching technique designed to support managers and athletes in mental preparation for peak performance.

Their goal was to create a method that would deliver rapid and lasting long-term results. To this end, they integrated various techniques derived from:

  • Bilateral stimulation of the brain hemispheres through rapid eye movements (REM = Rapid Eye Movement), through auditory and/or tactile stimulation;
  • Neuro-linguistic programming;
  • Kinesiology (muscle response testing to evaluate the effectiveness of the process).

Wingwave Coaching has 3 main areas of application:

  1. Stress reduction – it is the preferred technique for addressing stressful memories from past experiences or unpleasant emotions related to future experiences, which block the transition to action or creativity. Here we also discuss phobias, because a phobia is an exaggerated fear, generating intense stress and blockage. For example, people with a fear of flying will prefer to drive for 2 days rather than fly for 2 hours. It is harder if you want to go to the USA, because you have quite a lot of rowing to do 🙂. Through wingwave, a normal response to this stress can be achieved in a single session.

  2. Goal achievement – wingwave coaching generates a solid foundation of emotions and beliefs for the client's success, including increased creativity, improved confidence, and personal charisma.

  3. Limiting beliefs – identifies the beliefs that limit or block the client (e.g.: I am good for nothing, I am not valuable, they make fun of me) and transforms them into useful and valuable beliefs that allow the client to achieve their personal goals. At the same time, we have the opportunity to discover and learn how to manage so-called "euphoric beliefs" (e.g.: I must be perfect), which generate stress and can turn into a personal failure strategy.

Through Wingwave Coaching you can achieve and maintain your maximum level of performance thanks to its precision, efficiency, and creative dynamics. The method is successfully used by managers, directors, decision-makers, artists, athletes, as well as by all people who want to achieve a personal or professional goal and reach inner balance.

The name Wingwave comes from the metaphor of a “butterfly’s wingbeat” in chaos theory, which states that a butterfly’s wingbeat can trigger a hurricane on the other side of the globe. In wingwave, with a few hand movements, you can trigger a radical, beneficial change within yourself or the person you are working with (if you know where and how it should be done).

  • “wing” is the butterfly’s wingbeat which, according to chaos theory, has the power to change the weather, if the beat occurs at the right time and place. To make changes possible during the coaching session, we will establish a precise starting point for wingwave coaching, based on current physical and emotional needs, by applying the muscle response test (“myostatic test”). The “wing” metaphor also describes how the two hemispheres of the brain work together to support the “flight of the intellect” and ensure a successful “landing.”

  • “wave” evokes the term “brainwaves,” such as a “brilliant idea” or a “flash of inspiration.” And it is exactly these types of brainwaves that are used as triggers by wingwave® to achieve coaching goals.

Stress, the memory of unpleasant events or imaginary future situations act like a splinter in a wound – a splinter that prevents the wound from healing: the experience continues to have a negative effect on the person and limits their performance.

We all know how we feel when we are hurt, upset, insulted, embarrassed, etc. Under normal conditions, these emotions disappear and are replaced by others. The idea of an unpleasant event from the past no longer causes an unpleasant feeling.

If this does not happen – for example, if the negative emotions are not “released and replaced” – they remain incompletely processed (time has not “resolved” them all). The person remains “stuck” in the old conflict and may develop a secondary problem in the form of a thinking pattern: “Every time I do X, Y happens to me.”

What is the reason? During times of intense stress, the two cerebral hemispheres do not work together optimally. The process of unfolding events and the associated emotions is disrupted. Emotions lead to a blockage.

Under normal conditions, stressful events are processed during sleep. In the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) phase, the eyes move rapidly in a horizontal plane, and our stressful experiences are “processed.” The increase in daily stress levels deprives people of the opportunity to successfully process events during sleep. Restless sleep and insomnia medication can completely eliminate the REM phase, leading to a constant feeling of pressure.

Emotions associated with the past or with ideas about the future can no longer be processed efficiently. The situation can be compared to a defective CD – processing within the nervous system remains stuck.

After the session, the client feels relieved, even joyful, and has regained their sense of humor. Sometimes, they remain in a state of pleasant tiredness and complete relaxation, so that the rest of the day can be spent without stress and in a state of emotional well-being.

The benefits of Wingwave® coaching and the areas in which it is recommended:

  • Executive coaching: preparation for negotiations, speeches, presentations, conflict resolution, work-life balance.
  • Performance coaching: for exams, auditions, interviews, public appearances.
  • Creativity coaching: overcoming mental blocks, increasing creativity, eliminating procrastination.
  • Inner well-being coaching: increasing confidence, emotional balance, overcoming phobias, reducing stress, releasing food cravings.
